(This is a writing assignment for English Class (Professor Maximo). This homework was supposed to be the first chapter of a story. No theme or subject pointed out. Just a writing exercise. The characters, dates and events are completely fictional. Any resemblance of real names or events is just mere coincidence.)
Chapter 1: The Great Last Wrath
He was known by the name of Brighton Machtan. He lived in many lands and spoke in several languages. His real name, the secret one, was Uthark Stark. He was a revelant piece of an ancient and highly slippery confraternity of rare and crafty men. They called themselves no names, no clames at all; their secrecy was their matter indeed. However, to the few who suspected the existence of such brotherhood, they where refered to as the Black Underground Brotherhood. Its lines were filled with scientists, politicians, artists and apparently ordinary men. But the truth was that they were astrologers and sages, half esoteric sorcerers and half society potentates.
The Black Underground Brotherhood knew from centuries ago that a terrible world war should come, in which almost the entire humankind should perish like quaint paper burnt in conflagration. They knew it could not be halted. They all agreed in synods that this coming war -called by them The Great Last Wrath- was necessary in order to build a new and more fair intercourse between man and nature. Looking for this attainment, the Brotherhood`s mission was to collect all humankind`s knowledge and achievements, and to allow all means to the Great Last Wrath to occur. This was in fact the very mission of Uthark Stark, a daily ominous task for him.
The day he recieved the letter, he felt the weight of irony on his shoulders. The High Master for the continental branch of the Brotherhood wrote in that letter the course of action to follow, now that they knew the trigger of war was already set. A very mischievous terrorist group, the Red Hourse, was prepared to arm the clockwork of a nuclear head, which was scheduled to blast in Paris that year. Uthark Stark was commanded in that letter to secure the proper unfolding of the terrorists in France. Brighton Machtan would be, by that time, working in the Icelandic Embassy in Paris, as an unimportant, shy and narrow Consul General.
